Calculation of Pressure Forces on Submerged Rectangular Plates    (continued)

Case 4:  Calculation of Pressure Forces on a submerged Slanted plate (continued)

Magnitude and Location of Pressure Forces,  F1  and  F2.

The magnitudes of the pressure forces are   F1 = γ d ( 2hw )   and  F2  =  γ h cosα ( 2hw ).

The location of  each individual pressure force acts at the “centroid” of its pressure prism.

For F1 the centroid is at the center of the rectangle.  For F2 the centroid is at the center of

the triangle.
