Strategy for Construction of FBD of Bucket

Steps: 1. Isolate the bucket from its surroundings and construct a FBD of the bucket.

2. The surroundings include:

a. Gravitational attraction on the bucket

b. The crowd cylinder, AB

c. The pin support at E

3. Show the effects of the surroundings on the bucket.

They include the gravitational force on the bucket, the force of the

crowd cylinder on the bucket, and the pin forces at the support, E.

The FBD of the Bucket is then: Note: ∑ M_E = 0 yields F_AB
