Structures under Combined Loading

Example:  (continued)              Stresses on elements at A and at B

For element A:

             σx  =  (Mz)c/I  + R/A  =  (1500)(0.95)/(0.3) + 150/0.8  =  4938 psi

                             τzx = (Mx)r/ J  =  (2000)(0.95)/(0.6)  =  3167 psi

For element B :

                 σy  =  - (My)c/I  + R/A  =  - (900)(0.95)/(0.3) + 150/0.8  =  - 2663 psi

                             τxy  = (Mx)r/ J  =  (2000)(0.95)/(0.6)  =  3167 psi
