Example: Use the parallel axis theorem to find the moment of inertia, I_zzcg, about the

centroidal axis of the channel section shown below.

Strategy:

Subdivide the composite section into three rectangular areas each having dimensions

b by h. Call them parts 1, 2, and 3 as shown below.
