Example -  Analysis of Trusses using the Method of Sections

                             

Use the method of sections to find the forces in truss members, BC, BD, and DE.

                                      

Pass “section” L- L cutting members BC, BD, and DE.

                   

 

Next construct a FBD of either the right or to the left portion of the truss determined

by section L-L.  Here if we select the portion to the right, then there is no need to

determine the reactions at the pin support at A nor the roller support at E.

 

So construct at FBD of the portion of the truss to the right of section L-L.
